Maya is derived from the Sanskrit maa, meaning measure and yaa, experience. It pertains to that which we can measure and experience, that is, reality. This reality however varies from person to person as it is a product of time, space, cause and effect and is ever-changing.
Maya is know as a mesmerizing beautiful illusion. From within that illusion, we do not know that we are illuded and this state of illusion is one of being fully immersed within the illusion or maya.
